20 August 2018 - The Council submitted additional evidence on housing standards as set out in Document EX/SBC/34. Those who had made representations on Policy H4 were consulted on the new evidence and given the opportunity to comment. The Inspector considered those additional comments and responded to the Council in a letter relating to Policy H4(8) (EX/INS/10)
13 July 2018: Further to discussions on Hearing Day 7 the Council has produced a note relating to housing standards which is now available to download from the examination library (Ref EX/SBC/34)
13 July 2018: Further to the hearing session on Friday 15 June the Inspector has written to the Council regarding draft Policy EG6 which can be downloaded from the examination library (Ref EX/INS/9)
25 June 2018:The hearing sessions into the soundness of the Stockton-on-Tees Local have now been completed. The Inspector is currently considering the outcomes of the hearing sessions and all representations made (both written and oral) and will issue a further update in due course
14 June 2018: In response to discussions at the hearing sessions the Council has produced an updated Housing Trajectory (EX/SBC/31a) and Housing Trajectory Overview Note (EX/SBC/31) which are available to download from the examination library.
14 June 2018: Further to the hearing session on the delivery of affordable housing the Council’s Housing Strategy 2018-32 is now available to download from the examination library (EX/SBC/33) along with a note setting out the implications of a higher affordable housing threshold on allocated sites (EX/SBC/32)
12 June 2018:Matters 6, 7 and 8 - During the hearing session Highways England referred to a technical note prepared and submitted in response to documentation provided by the Council. (Documents EX/OTH/8, EX/OTH/8a, EX/OTH/8b and EX/OTH/8c )
6 June 2018: In response to discussions at the hearing session the Council has produced a note setting out further information on household representative rates and employment used in the calculation of housing needs. This is now available to download from the examination library (Ref EX/SBC/30).
5 June 2018: Matter 1 – Baker Consultants have produced a note on Recreation Disturbance on the Teesmouth and Cleveland Coast SPA (EX/OTH/7)
5 June 2018: Matter 1- Durham County Council has submitted a letter to the examination regarding the Durham County Plan (EX/OTH/1) and Stockton Borough Council’s response is document EX/SBC/26.
Stockton Borough Council have also submitted a draft addendum to the Sustainability Appraisal in relation to alternative housing requirements (document EX SBC 29)
5 June 2018: The Council made their opening statement on the examination into the soundness of the Stockton-on-Tees Local Plan (EX/SBC/27)
1 June 2018: The Inspector has published the final version of the hearing programme - EX/INS/8 in the examination library.
25 May 2018: A series of Statements of Common Ground between the Council and other parties have been uploaded and are available to view in the Council’s section of the Examination Library (access via link above). Also uploaded is additional evidence submitted by the Council in relation to their housing trajectory and highways evidence.
24 May 2018: The deadline for the receipt of hearing statements was 22 May 2018. All statements received are now available to view in the 'Hearing Statements' section of the Examination Library, which may be accessed by using the link above
14 May 2018: Further to the Council’s response to the Inspector’s Initial Questions (EX/INS/1) an updated Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) and supporting documentation have been submitted and are now available to view on the examination webpage (EX/SBC 13, EX/SBC/14 and EX/SBC/15). Where necessary participants are invited to submit Addendum Hearing Statements in response to the updated SFRA by Wednesday 30 May. All other Hearing Statements should be received by Tuesday 22 May in accordance with the timetable set out in the Examination Guidance Note (EX/INS/4).
A revised version of the draft hearing programme is also available (EX/INS/7)
1 May 2018: The Programme Officer has sent out an email acknowledging receipt of requests to participate in the upcoming hearings into the Stockton-on-Tees Local Plan or changes to the draft-hearing programme. Due to unforeseen circumstances the revised draft-hearing programme, which takes account of any changes, will not be published until mid-May when it will be uploaded to this page and emailed to all those attending. Confirmation is also given that the deadline for receipt of the Hearing Statements is 22 May 2018.
Notification is also given that the hearings will commence at 10am on 5 June 2018 in the Jim Cooke Conference Suite at Stockton Central Library. Further details about the hearings and venue (and how to get there) can be found in the Guidance Notes.

2 January 2018: A formal letter was received from the Planning Inspectorate advising that in accordance with section 20 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (as amended) the Secretary of State had appointed InspectorMatthew BirkinshawBA (Hons) MSc MRTPI to conduct the examination to determine whether the Stockton-on-Tees Local Plan is sound.
