Youth Employment Initiative (YEI)

The Tees Valley Pathways and Routeways programmes form part of the Youth Employment Initiative (YEI) and aims to support young people across the Tees Valley aged 15-29 who are unemployed and/or not in education, employment or training until the end of July 2018. There are a number YEI providers within Stockton-on Tees.



  • We can provide a personalised programme to help people to find the right job
  • Help by developing skills and confidence, making links with companies who are looking for new recruits to join their teams
  • An exciting programme of activities including visits to local employers, enterprise challenges and film making projects
  • Access to online careers support and other resources to help clients prepare for the world of work

Five Lamps

  • An experienced mentor will work closely with clients to move them into employment, self employment and identify training courses
  • Provide essential tools and equipment to prepare clients for self employment
  • Provide financial assistance with employment related costs such as interview clothes

Groundwork North East

  • Our Youth Team work across Tees Valley and provide support to progress people into employment, education and training
  • One to one support and an exciting set of activities which will provide new skills and valuable experience
  • A Pathway Programme provides the opportunity to gain a qualification while receiving practical experience within sectors such as Horticulture, Youth Work, Marketing, Manufacturing and Business Admin
  • Enterprise Camp Programme which provides the opportunity to explore and expand entrepreneurial skills by participating in our exciting outward bound residential
  • Groundwork North East has a number of Apprenticeship opportunities available across the Tees Valley
