Since the 01 April 2008, all Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) in England and Wales are required to have in place a Rapid Response Process (RRP) and a Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP), as outlined in Chapter 5 of Working Together to Safeguard Children.
LSCBs are responsible for collecting and analysing information about all the deaths of children and young people (up to the age of 18 years) in their area. This information will identify patterns and trends, enabling specific action, which may prevent some deaths in the future.
The Tees Child Death Review Project, managed by Redcar & Cleveland LSCB in statutory partnership with Hartlepool LSCB, Middlesbrough LSCB and Stockton-on-Tees LSCB, provides a dedicated service to ensure that the statutory requirements relating to child death review functions are implemented.
