Big plans for the young people of our Borough

Safeguarding training

lscb

A key priority for SLSCB is to have a workforce that is competent and appropriately skilled to carry out their duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

Employers are responsible for ensuring that their staff are competent to carry out their responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and creating an environment where staff feel able to raise concerns and feel supported in their safeguarding role.

SLSCB therefore expects that the knowledge, skills and competence for group Level 1 and 2 (Basic Safeguarding Training) would have been acquired within individual professional/SLSCB partner agencies education programmes in accordance with Section 11 of the Children Act 2004 requirements. The focus on training provided by SLSCB is therefore the provision of good quality inter/multi agency training to groups of staff from a range of professions or disciplines who can learn and share from their experiences together. Hartlepool LSCB & Stockton on Tees LSCB are now working collaboratively to deliver multi agency training.

Training, learning and development are key factors in the SLSCB Learning and Improvement Framework.
