Funding for school-centred initial teacher training

The tuition fees for the programme commencing in September 2017 are £8,750. Student Finance England provide a range of financial support including the following.


Financial Support

Tuition Fee Loan
Students are able to apply for a loan to cover tuition fees. The loan is paid direct to your training provider. Tuition fee loans must be paid back but are not repayable until earnings exceed an amount agreed by the government.

Maintenance Loan
Students can also apply for a maintenance loan to assist with costs of living when studying on the programme. As with the tuition fee loan, the maintenance loan must be paid back but is not repayable until earnings exceed an amount agreed by the government. You may have to provide details of your household income. The grant is paid directly into your bank account at the start of term.

Other Grants/Allowances 

Other specialist grants are available such as the Childcare Grant, Adult Dependants' Grant, Parents Learning Allowance, Disabled Students Allowance.
