Stockton-on-Tees Teacher Training Partnership (SCITT)

Welcome to Stockton SCITT.  We offer outstanding initial teacher training, real in-school experience and a training programme that is facilitated by experienced mentors, tailored to support you to achieve Qualified Teacher Status and a Masters Level PGCE. 

Our Partnership has fantastic employment rates with many former trainees remaining in Stockton schools.

We are recruiting from 26 October 2017 for the academic year 2018 - 2019 in the following phases/subjects.


Primary/Early Years:
The programme allows you to qualify as a primary teacher in the 5–11 age range or the 3–7 age range for early years teachers.


Secondary Subjects:

Maths

Physics Chemistry
Modern Foreign Languages English Geography
Music Design Tehnology History
Art Computing Physical Education

Our Partnership 
Stockton-on-Tees Teacher training Partnership is a well-established provider of initial teacher training rated outstanding by Ofsted in both primary and secondary sectors in 2013. We work with Stockton Teaching School Alliance which is led by an outstanding primary and secondary school.

You will become part of a long established partnership of schools that work closely together to deliver high quality personalised training and who have a proven track record of successfully training and developing our future teachers.

We will support you through a personalised training programme giving you the opportunity to thrive as an individual and achieve your qualification with real experience in a school. You will be assigned an experienced mentor to support you through the programme providing you with a wide range of opportunities to give you the experience and skills ready to teach.

The programme is embedded through experience in school and supported by academic theory. On completion of the course you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) as well as a PGCE at Masters Level 7.

Our programme is delivered over one academic year from September through to July.

  • We have been rated as outstanding by Ofsted in 2013 in both primary and secondary phases.
  • We have delivered high quality ITT training for the past 12 years including a successful PGCE (Masters Level 7) for the past 4 years, accredited by Leeds Beckett University.  All tutorials and study takes place in Stockton and you will have access to their facilities including their vast online library.
  • Fantastic employment rates and over half of our trainees are recruited by Stockton schools.
  • All trainees are placed in at least two schools, with the opportunity to experience alternative specialist settings, e.g. SEN and Pupil Referral Units.
  • Professional Tutors and Class Mentors work collaboratively to support individual learning experiences.
  • You will have two assigned qualified and expert teachers dedicated to your development throughout the year.
  • Over 70% of your training is school based, allowing you to embed and develop the practical skills gained through central training e.g. Assessment for Learning.
  • We provide you with the opportunity to work with a range of good and outstanding schools that form our partnership in Stockton.
  • As an ITT provider and appropriate body for NQT Induction, if you are employed in Stockton, you benefit from access to a range of further training and support for early career development, including the option to complete a Masters Level module on Reflective Practice.
