Big plans for the young people of our Borough

Support for foster carers

fostering and adoption

Every foster carer has a Supervising Social Worker and every child has a Social Worker. Both of these people will visit regularly to support you and the child.

There are also opportunities for ongoing training and to meet with other foster carers who are invaluable in the support and advice they can offer.

Foster carers receive a realistic allowance to cover the everyday expenditure that caring for a child involves.

The current allowance for new carers ranges from £140.33/week to £242.08/week per child (depending on the age of the child).  As you become more experienced as a carer, this can increase to between £265.33/week and £367.08/week per child (depending on the age of the child). Extra payments are given to cover special occasions such as Christmas and holidays.
