Fostering and Adoption

fostering and adoption

Each foster carer and adopter is allocated their own dedicated Supervising Social Worker, who has a wealth of experience of supporting and supervising carers.

They will work with you to match children who need placements and offer full support, development and training. The Child Placement Team also provides services to both adults and children whose lives have been affected by adoption.

In 2011 an independent report into Stockton Council's adoption service has judged it OUTSTANDING in its support for adoptive parents and in providing stable, caring homes for local children. The review, carried out by Government watchdog Ofsted, assessed all aspects of Stockton Council's adoption service including how its specialist team prepares, assesses and approves adoptive parents and how it places children with them.

The report identified in particular the outstanding approach the Council takes to equality and diversity in the adoption process. It also praised the Child Placement Team for its detailed focus on matching children with prospective adoptive parents to provide stability and security.
