Information about School Admissions Appeals

In response to the COVID-19 situation the Department for Education has now issued Regulations and Guidance regarding the holding of this year’s school admission appeals. Face to face appeal hearings will not now take place and appeal hearings for Schools and Academies in the Borough will be considered on written representations.

The revised timetable for dealing with this year’s school admission appeals is noted below:

Main Round Secondary School Admission Appeals (appeals for Year 7 admission in September 2020):

  • Parents/carers who have submitted an appeal will be contacted by letter in week commencing 4 May 2020 with details of the process and timetable to be followed
  • Appeal panel hearings are planned to be convened week commencing 22 June 2020

Main Round Primary School Admission Appeals (appeals for a place in Reception in September 2020):

  • Parents/carers who have submitted an appeal will be contacted by letter in week commencing 25 May 2020 with details of the process and timetable to be followed
  • Appeal panel hearing are planned to be convened week commencing 13 July 2020

In Year Transfer Appeals

We will look to progress any in year transfer appeals as soon as is reasonably practicable. Parent/Carers who have submitted an in year appeal and want to be updated on the progress with their appeal can e mail: [email protected]
