Football pitches to hire (Local Authority)

The following Local Authority parks and open spaces are available for football pitch hire. Booking enquiries are taken between May and June prior to allocation. To check availability please contact 01642 527318.

Hire prices per season for 2016/17 are as follows:

Pitch only - Senior £211.77, Junior £105.89

Pitch with changing rooms - Senior £305.93, Junior £152.96

Pitch with changing rooms and showers - Senior £484.66, Junior £242.33

Playing Pitch Strategy

The Stockton-on-Tees Playing Pitch Strategy has been written to enable Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and partners to effectively plan how we will improve the quality/ quantity of playing pitches (in a number of sports) across the borough to meet the needs and aspirations of our sporting community.

Support for local sports clubs

We have a strong commitment to supporting sports clubs and organisations throughout the Borough. We want to support those who create opportunities that allow people to participate in sport, physical activity or active leisure in a safe and effective environment.

If you run a local sports club or group you will find useful information to help support you here. You will also find the Sport and Active Leisure Strategy for Stockton-on-Tees, which has been developed for the purpose of making a positive difference to our residents and communities through sport and active leisure.


Sports and Activity Leisure Strategy

The Sports and Activity Leisure Strategy has not been developed for the sole use of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council; it is intended as a framework for our partners who provide active leisure services across the whole of the Borough. We intend to use it to harness the expertise and resources of the public, private and voluntary sectors to really make a positive difference.

Funding and grant opportunities

The Leisure and Sports Development team offers advice and support to sporting organisations who are looking for external financial help. The following funding opportunities are currently available.


Sport England Small Grants Programme

Sport England Small Grants Programme The Sport England Small Grants Programme has been set up to support local community sports projects which seek to increase participation, sustain participation or develop opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport. You can apply for any sum from £300 to £10,000.

Rate relief for sporting organisations

Sports organisations and clubs who operate on a non-profit basis are eligible to apply for National Non-Domestic Rate Relief (NNDRR) for sporting organisations.

The scheme is discretionary and the money awarded to clubs and organisations are assessed against certain criteria, which you must provide photocopy evidence for.
