Big plans for great experiences

Mobile Services

We offer a range of library services for people who cannot get to one of our library buildings.

Home Library Service

The Home Library Service provides materials to those who are unable to use a Community Library due to illness, disability or frailty. The service can be permanent or temporary, for example, where someone may be recuperating from an illness or accident. Users will have access to the same range of materials as those found in a community library which will be delivered direct to the individual's home.

Visits are made on a three weekly basis and at a regular time by our staff who carry identification. This service is free of charge and requests to receive it can be made by individuals themselves, relatives, friends or carers.

Mobile Library Service

The Mobile Library takes the service to parts of the Borough where there is no static community library within easy reach. The stock and services available are the same as those found in a community library but on a smaller scale.

The Mobile Library has an Information service covering such topics as blood donor sessions, bus and train timetables, leisure courses, council services and facilities etc. The Mobile Library operates on a three weekly schedule, visiting on a set day and time and at a designated place.

Hospital Library Services

For over 40 years a dedicated team of hard working volunteers have delivered books to the patients of North Tees Hospital on behalf of Stockton Library Service.  During your stay in hospital, if you fancy a good read just look out for our volunteers who will be happy to offer you a wide selection from their trusty trolley. The trolley service is as follow:

Surgical wards - Tuesday and Friday afternoons

Elderly care - Wednesday mornings
