District (Local) and Parish Elections - Thursday 4 May 2023

Local elections are are held once every four years, on the first Thursday of May. The next Local Elections are due to take place on Thursday 4 May 2023.

In a local election, you are voting to elect councillors who will represent your views for the area where you live.

The Borough of Stockton-on-Tees is divided into 27 areas known as wards. Each ward has one, two or three councillors depending on its size. There are a total of 56 elected councillors. Find your current local Councillor here.

Stand in the upcoming District and Parish Elections

A nomination pack for District and Parish candidates, together with other useful information, will be published nearer the election.

For candidates wanting to stand at the District and Parish Elections, nomination papers can be obtained from the Elections Office, Municipal Buildings, Church Road, Stockton-on-Tees, during office hours of 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. Parish nomination papers can also be obtained from the relevant parish council's clerk.

Nomination papers must be delivered during office hours of 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. This excludes bank holidays on and from Monday 20 March 2023 until 4pm on Tuesday 4 April 2023.

Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Elections Office, Room 65, Municipal Buildings, Church Road, Stockton on Tees, TS18 1LD.

Please complete your nomination papers as early as you can. Arrangements can then be made through the Elections Office to provide an informal check of the nomination papers.

Nominations close at 4pm on Tuesday 4 April 2023. No nominations can be accepted after this time.
