Council Tax Support Fund 2023 to 2024

Recognising the increase in rising bills, the Government has given Local Authorities additional funding to support the most vulnerable households in England with their Council Tax payments.

At Stockton we are using the funding to provide the Government reduction of £25 plus an additional local reduction of £25 giving a maximum total reduction of up to £50. It applies to both working age and pension age households receiving Council Tax Reduction during 2023 to 2024. If your council tax liability from the start of your Council Tax Reduction award is less than £50, you will receive a payment of up to £50. This will be automatically placed on your account and will show on your bill as "Council Tax Support Fund".

Where after Council Tax Reduction has been applied to your account and your liability is less than £50 your account balance will be reduced to zero.

This will also apply to any resident who becomes newly entitled to Council Tax Reduction, throughout the financial year 2023 to 2024, until the fund runs out.
