Are you clear on cancer?

14 September 2016

A ROADSHOW offering advice and support on cancer is coming to Stockton High Street.

On Friday 16 September, residents will be able to ask questions and learn more about the support on offer for those affected by cancer at the 'Be Clear on Cancer' roadshow which will take place in the Castlegate Shopping Centre between 9am and 5pm.

The nationwide campaign focusses on lung cancer and its symptoms of a persistent cough and breathlessness. It encourages anyone that has been coughing for three weeks or more to visit their doctor immediately.

Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health, said: "The 'Be Clear on Cancer' roadshow is a good opportunity for people to seek expert advice and ask questions.

"I would encourage anyone thinking about their own health or the health of someone close to come along to this drop-in roadshow for an informal chat. There will be a nurse and event staff on hand to provide information and support.

"The Council is working with health services to raise awareness and provide support to those affected by cancer. These roadshows provide face-to-face support which I'm sure many people will find valuable."

Early detection is fundamental to the prevention of cancer-related deaths. The 'Be Clear on Cancer' roadshow offers an informal setting for discussions to take place so residents can gain a better understanding on the disease through asking questions and also to learn how they can access local support for those affected by cancer.
