Another new community bus service launches in Stockton-on-Tees
Another free community bus serving communities in the south of Stockton-on-Tees will be launched this week.
The new route, provided by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, will link Long Newton and Elton with Stockton Town Centre and Yarm High Street.
First departing tomorrow (October 31), the number 88 bus will run three times a day every Wednesday and Friday.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, Councillor Mike Smith, said: "The bus service will provide options for those who are unable to, or find it hard to access local bus services.
"We already operate three similar services across Stockton-on-Tees and have seen how much they are valued by communities, so we are really pleased to be able to deliver it for residents living in the south of the Borough too."
Anybody wishing to use the service must become a member. Membership forms, along with route maps and timetable information can be found at Public community and transport or call 01642 526709/524681.
The service is supported by the Department for Transport's Bus Service Operator Grant.
