The Drug and Alcohol Team are responsible for commissioning and co-ordinating high quality substance misuse services across Stockton by working in partnership with all those concerned in reducing the harm caused by substance misuse to individuals, their families and communities.

In this section you will find information about teams who provide services for people with drug and alcohol problems. 

If you or a member of your family has a problem with drug or alcohol misuse you can contact the following 24/7 helplines and they will direct you to the most appropriate treatment provider. These helplines are confidential.

Stockton Multi-Agency Recovery Team (SMART) SMART is a service to help young people who are having problems with drugs and alcohol. The service works with anyone up to the age of 18. Referrals can be made by professionals, family or self-referrals. Young people are seen in various locations that best suits their needs, identifying strengths and areas of concern through comprehensive assessments, psychosocial interventions and service user led care and action plans. The service promotes working in partnership with other agencies, professionals and family to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

Stockton Treatment Alcohol and Recovery Service (STARS) Stockton Treatment Alcohol and Recovery Service, is for adults over the age of 18yrs, who feel they are drinking too much alcohol and want to cut down or stop drinking altogether. The service also offers help to families and those people looking after someone who might be having problems with alcohol. The Service offers Advice and information, Assessment and Treatment.

The service offers a holistic service for carers, children, parents and all family affected by substance misuse and alcohol issues. The service is available to everyone who has been directly affected by someone else’s substance misuse including parents, children, grandparents, brother and sisters. The services offered include: care plans; support work; counselling; alcohol specific service; outreach; advocacy’ child counselling; respite; alternative therapies; drug awareness; alcohol awareness; signposting; support groups; grandparent carers service; parenting support; health and wellbeing and gardening service.
