Best Value |
|
|
Best Value means giving the best possible service at a reasonable cost. The Government introduced Best Value in 2000/01, requiring local councils to look at the way they deliver services to the public and to improve the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of the way that those services are provided.
Many of the Council's daily activities can be classed as Best Value. These include existing forms of customer consultation, the performance management practices and culture, the financial and service planning system and the Beacon Council accreditations and other national awards that have been obtained.
We have an excellent track record of working with others and the further development of this partnership approach will be fundamental to the achievement of Best Value.
Best Value Performance Plan
The Council is reviewing the services it provides through our Improvement Programme. This has been developed by drawing on the pattern of strengths and weaknesses identified during our latest Comprehensive Performance Assessment undertaken by the Audit Commission.
The Improvement Programme along with further information on how the Council has performed against Government set Best Value Performance Indicators can be found within our Best Value Performance Plan. This is a statutory plan which we integrated into our Council Plan. The performance information is published each year as an Annex to the Council Plan and our external auditors, the Audit Commission, produce a report on it. You can download a copy of the full Council Plan and the Annex below.
