Budget Information

The Council has been at the forefront of developments in financial planning in recent years. The Council implemented 3-year forward resource planning (Medium Term Financial Plan) before Central Government approved the first of its 3-year Comprehensive Spending Reviews. In addition, capacity to maximise the use of the forward resource allocations has been significantly enhanced by the introduction of flexibility in use of resources across services and between financial years

The Council continues to introduce greater transparency into preparation of the budget by extending consultation through budget workshops, which seek the views of various stakeholders on the direction of resources and council tax levels.

The most important point however is that the budget and the Medium Term Financial Plan (MTFP) exist to direct resources to achieve Council and Service Plans which reflect the priorities contained within the Sustainable Community Strategy for the Borough.
