Your Guide to Voting at a Polling Station

  1. At the Polling Station please state your name and address. You do not have to show your polling card, but it may help officials.
  2. Your name will then be marked against a list of electors. This is to guard against duplicate voting.
  3. You will be handed a numbered ballot paper with a security mark on (to help combat against fraud). This will also tell you how many candidates you can vote for.
  4. Take the ballot paper to one of the polling booths which are screened to ensure secrecy
  5. Put an X in the box next to the candidate you want to vote for (you may have more than one vote in local elections)
  6. Fold the ballot paper and post it in the ballot box.
