European Elections 2009
The European elections took place on Thursday 4th June 2009 to choose the UK's 72 MEP's (Members of the European Parliament). To be able to vote you must be on the Electoral Register which is a list of everyone who is entitled to vote. To check if you are on the electoral register please contact the Electoral Registration Team.

Dave Smith, Chief Executive of Sunderland City Council is the Regional Returning Officer for the North East region, and is responsible for the overall management of the election across the region.
The counting of votes will take place on Sunday 7th June 2009.
