Beall, Jim

Welcome to my webpages. I hope you find the information on these Councillor Jim Beallpages useful and informative. I would be pleased to have feedback on any of the items and any suggestions for improvements to the pages.

I was elected to Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council for the Roseworth Ward in May 2007 after more than 30 years working in local government. Most of my experience during those years was working in a social care environment. I started as a care assistant, moved into social work and eventually into operational and strategic management positions. Since leaving local government in 2004, I  undertook consultancy work for local Councils/NHS Trusts, including the Healthy Communities Beacon Council promotion and was Peer Reviewer for Local Government Improvement and Development's Healthy Communities programme.   However my Council duties and voluntary work take up nearly all my time now. My granddaughter says I'm busier now than when I was working!

I am the founding Chairman of Stockton's Voluntary Support Group for Diabetes (allied to Diabetes UK). Details of the Support Group's meetings can found here

Following this year's Council's AGM, I became Deputy Leader of the Council whilst continuing in my position as Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health with special responsibility for a wide range of services, for some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.  I am also a member of the Planning Committee and the Local Joint Consultative Panel (liaison with the Trade Unions).  I am also the Council's representative on the Council of Governors for North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust who provide the main hospital services and community health services for the people of Stockton.

I have extensive Community & Voluntary Sector governance experience and representation to Stockton's Local Strategic Partnership: Central Area Partnership Board and Stockton Renaissance, which I now attend as a Cabinet Member.

I am a governor of the new Rosebrook School, having the honour of being the first Chair of Governors, it was also my privilege to show Prince Andrew round when he officially opened it - see more on my news. I am Chair of the Eastern Ravens Trust children's charity which provides services to disadvantaged young people including young carers. I couldn't possibly do all of this without the support and understanding of my loving wife, Pauline. When I have any free time, I enjoy reading, holidaying abroad, gardening, trying to keep fit and I also follow Middlesbrough Football Club.
