Smith, Michael
Welcome to my personal web pages
I have lived in Billingham all my life and have been married to Denise for 28yrs who also works in the town and have two children and two granddaughters.
I was a former pupil of the Old Bede grammar school and got an apprenticeship in Haverton Hill shipyard in the 1970's.
I moved into chemical process in the 1980's and now work full time in Billingham in the pharmaceutical industry.
I started in resident association work in 1999, and was a founder member of the North Billingham Residents Association, during which time I represented the group on Stockton Renaissance and Billingham Partnership.
The Residents group is still going and doing some excellent work around North Billingham
I was elected to Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council in 2003 for St. Cuthbert's ward (now Billingham South) with Councillor Jean O'Donnell with the aim of improving this town we all love and to help make it a better place to live.
I am currently Vice Chair of Environment Committee, member of Regeneration and Transport and Executive Scrutiny Committee.
I have been a member of Billingham Town Council since its inauguration and chair 2007/2008 and 2008/2009.
Hobbies include Archery, Golf, puzzles and reading.
My wife has tried for some years to get me interested more in gardening and in particular an allotment, I now find myself, somehow succumbing to the idea, I wonder if its an age thing?
I enjoy the varied council work and will continue to represent the people of Billingham as long as I am able and for as long as they want me to.
