Cllr Bob Cook

Welcome to my web pages. I hope you find them of use. For the most recent information about what is going on in the Norton South Ward please check the page called My News. My contact details and those of my colleague representing Norton South, Cllr Steve Nelson are located to the right of this text. For ward surgery dates, times and locations please click on Norton South in the related content section to the left of this page.

Below are some details about me and my council and community work in the borough.

I am 56 yrs old and am married with two daughters and one grandson; I have lived in Norton for the last 33years moving to Norton when I got married to Sandra. Both our children went to local schools, as does my grandson. I was first elected as a councillor in 1987 to Stockton District Council for a four-year term and during the last year I chaired the Leisure Services Committee. I had a two-year break and then stood in the 1993 Cleveland County Council elections and was elected to serve the old ward of Blue Hall in Norton. When it was decided to have a unitary council for Stockton in 1995 I was elected to the Norton Ward currently representing Norton South.

Outside of local politics I am a season ticket holder at Middlesbrough F C. I work at Growhow UK at Billingham, which was the former ICI fertiliser works. Presently I am the Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, a position which I have held since 2000. I have really seen the borough change in the eight years that I have held this post and I hope you agree with me that the change has definitely been for the better.

I am also the Chairman of the Local Development Framework Steering Group and the Chairman of the Markets Forum. I sit on the Members Advisory Panel - New Constitution and the Tees Valley Joint Strategy Committee and am involved with the following local and regional bodies:-
Centre for Local Economic Strategies
Economic Regeneration & Transport Partnership
National Parking Adjudication Service Jt Committee
NEA Strategic Planning Committee
Stockton & Middlesbrough Initiative
Stockton Renaissance Board
Tees Valley Local Access Forum
Tees Valley Unlimited - Planning and Economic Strategy Group
Tees Valley Unlimited Transport for Tees Valley
