Awards for All Some time ago I was happy to supply a reference to the Awards For All scheme of the National Lottery on behalf of Norton Flower Club. The bid was successful to the tune of over £7000, which the club has put to good use for the benefit of members and the wider community. On 26th November Dick and I were invited to the Club Open Evening to watch a fabulous flower arranging demonstration when I was delighted to present the Awards for All certificate to the President Doreen Parsons as photo shows.
On Sunday 9th November Dick and I were pleased to attend the annual afternoon Remembrance Sunday service in Norton - this year in St. Mary's Church on Norton Green. I was honoured to lay a wreath on the War Memorial at the back of the Church on behalf of The Mayor and Stockton Council. We spent some time after the service chatting to the officers and members of Norton British Legion together with other Norton residents over a cup of tea kindly provided by the ladies from the Church.
Telecare - 4th March 2008 On 4th March I spoke to the Wesley Guild at Norton Methodist Church about the services that are offered to elderly, frail and disabled residents to enable them to continue living in their own home for as long as possible. I was really pleased to have with me Shaun Taylor from The Care Call Centre who brought with him pieces of kit that can be installed in your home to detect the need for help. Even without having to press a pendant. A sensor can detect unusual movement, a fall, or even if a client wanders away from home during the night. The title of this service is " Telecare " and this is going to help us all in the future. Members of the Guild were really interested especially as many of them would like to continue living at home if at all possible. Shaun offers to give talks and demonstrations to other groups. If you want to know more please ask me.
