Stockton Borough Libraries sought the views of
young people to provide us with an insight into their views and ideas
of what they would like to see in their libraries of the
future.
Following the ideas and suggestions of the young participants in the Vibes
consultation process libraries have put some quick fixes in place. Age
restrictions on accessing the internet have been reduced to eight years
(with parental consent) across all libraries.
At Stockton Central Library a designated teen area has been established
providing a new sofa and beanbags, with a computer and a range of new books
and magazines. A new noticeboard has been installed to inform you of
current library information and activities as well as having a space to
encourage your comments and suggestions.
A new sofa and chairs have been purchased for the main lending area so
everyone can enjoy a good relaxing read. Plants have been revitalised and
new ones purchased.
We have lifted the restriction on drinks so everyone is welcome to bring
drinks in and eat 'lite bites' at their leisure in our libraries.
All libraries are addressing their teenage areas on how they can be
improved as part of our future refurbishment programme.
Phone zones have been created so everyone is welcome to use their mobiles
in designated areas.
