Borough Coat of Arms

History of Stockton Council

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council has been responsible for all local authority services in the Borough since April 1996, when it became an all-purpose "unitary" Council. Find out more about the history of Stockton Council.

Stockton Town Hall

Stockton's historic Town Hall - or, to give it its traditional name, the Town House - dates from 1735 in its present form. Dominating the town from its position in the centre of the town's High Street, it is a focal point for the town centre. Find out more about Stockton Town Hall.

The Mayor

The Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees is the first citizen of the Borough and speaks on behalf of the area and its community. The Mayor is also a member of the Council elected by fellow Councillors.
