Awards & Recognition - Stockton Borough Council

Stockton Council is one of the top rated Councils in the Country.

We are among the top ten Councils in the UK receiving the maximum 4-stars and rated as "improving strongly" from the Audit Commission during the current Comprehensive Performance Assessment and are the first Unitary Authority outside London to do this two years in a row.

We regularly achieve Beacon Status for leading the way in improving services, receiving the status for 2007 - 08 for our working together with partner organisations for the Emergency Planning Unit.

Stockton is host to many fantastic events and festivals including the multi award winning Stockton International Riverside Festival.

In addition we have made outstanding acheivements and improvements in education at all levels, we have one of the most improved street and cleansing services, four green flag award winning parks and exciting regeneration projects at the heart of the Tees Valley.

The Borough is also home to many award winning parks and green spaces which have been instrumental in helping us to win gold in the prestigious Northumbria in Bloom competition four years in a row and represent the North in Britain in Bloom for 2006 - 07.
