March Citizenship Ceremony
When Marjorie and I arrived at the Town Hall there were several people had
already arrived. We put on our mayoral chains before having a chat to
everyone in the Reception Room. We also had time for a welcome cup of
coffee while the recipients enjoyed their refreshments and completed all
the required paperwork for the ceremony.
Everyone made their way up to the Council Chamber and took their seats
before Kevin, the Mayor's Attendant announced my arrival and I took my
seat. The ceremony started and it was my turn to welcome everyone and tell
them about things to see and do in Stockton and the surrounding areas. Once
the allegiance swearing was complete we all stood for the National Anthem
before moving to the side for the official photographs with the recipients.
During our mayoral year we have started applauding each recipient after the
photographs which everyone seems to enjoy. Marjorie and I stayed in the
Council Chamber for family photographs before leaving for home.
