Marjorie and I were welcomed to the school by the Head Teacher and shown
into his office to meet other members of staff along with Satnam Singh from
Stockton Borough Council and a representative from SCRAGA (Stockton
Community Residents Groups Association) and the winner of the Logo
Competition.
We all went into the school entrance hall for the photograph session of the
winner with his logo and the winning voucher.
It was soon back to class for the winner, while Marjorie and I left for the
next engagement.
Charity Static Cycle Ride at All Saints School, Ingleby
Barwick
We had a pleasant car ride to All Saints School in Ingleby Barwick and were
surprised at such a good looking school, but of course it is a relatively
new school on a new housing estate. We were welcomed to the school by the
Head Teacher who escorted us up to the upper level of the gymnasium where
the static bikes were situated.
Members of the School's Hild House had been pedalling the distance from
Lands End to John O'Groats in support of Year 8 student Jake McGee's money
raising efforts for the Butterwick Hospice. Jake is actually going to be
cycling the route with his father.
A suit and mayoral chains aren't the best clothing to use on a bike, but at
least I managed 5 km, with Jake and Josh, to add to their totals. Marjorie
and I are very good friends of Mary Butterwick and the know the work she
has done over the years to get such facilities in Stockton and Bishop
Auckland. We retired to the staff room for a welcome cup of coffee and time
to talk to the young ladies from the Butterwick Trust and members of All
Saints School Staff.
After such a worthwhile event it was time to leave the school for
home.
