Marjorie and I met Janet Sanders, Linda Short and Janet McNeilly and their
families and friends in the Mayor's Reception Room at the Town Hall before
the presentation event which gave us time to talk to everyone. They were
here to receive their 25 years Long Service Certificates. After
refreshments we all went up to the Council Chamber for the actual
presentation of the certificates. I gave a short speech of welcome to
everyone and thank them for their hard work during this time. I also
mentioned that in my working life I worked on contract and the longest I
worked anywhere was about 6 years and never qualified for any long service
certificates.
Janet Sanders was the first recipient and was praised by Martin Salter, the
Deputy Head Teacher of the Grangefield School, for her hard work and
dedication.
It was now the time for Linda Short to receive her 25 year certificate and
she was also praised by Jan Thompson, the Deputy Head Teacher of the Glebe
Primary School for her dedication and hard work during her time at the
school.
Our last recipient was Janet McNeilly who like the other others was praised
by Emily Hodgson, the Head Teacher of Bowesfield Primary School for her
hard work and dedication she showed working at the school. I
presented them all with their certificates after which individual
photographs were taken. We then had a group photograph and we still
had time to socialise before everyone went out into the snow for the trip
home.
