If I accept financial assistance from the Council I must reference my tenants. Why must I do this?

The purpose of the facelift scheme is to make the area a better place to live and also provide sustainability to the streets receiving improvement works.

Another way of helping to acheive this is by preventing poor tenants and the problems they cause by living in the area. By referencing all new tenants through the free referencing schemes operated by the Council and Police is should be possible to significantly reduce the possibility of undesireable tenants obtaining tenancies. The benefits of this are obvious, Landlords are less likely to have their properties damaged or fixtures stolen and by reducing levels of crime and anti-social behaviour, void levels and tenancy turn over rates should also reduce, which will increase rental income.
