A House in Multiple Occupation is a house or flat which is occupied by persons who do not form a single household as defined in section 345 of the Housing Act 1985, houses such as:
- Bedsits
- Shared Housing (this could be rooms within a property let to different people).
- Hostels
- Bed & Breakfasts
- Some Guest Houses
- Lodgings
- Registered Homes
- Properties which have been converted into self contained flats
