Having decided on the school I would prefer, what do I do next?

If you want your child to go to your admission-zone school, you must fill in the Common Application Form and put this school down as a preference. From September 2008 allocations will be allocated using equal ranking. This means that all preferences put down on your common application form will be treated equally. However, we will try to meet your highest ranked preference. Admission packs will be distributed through your primary school or through the post in September 2008 for applications for September 2009. The closing date for applications will be 24 October 2008.

The closing date for Secondary applications for September 2007 has now passed. If you have not completed an application form, please contact School Admissions on (01642) 526605.

If you want to ask for another school, you must fill in and return the common application form stating the schools you would prefer your child to go to.
If you want your child to go to a voluntary-aided school, or a school or college outside of the area, please include these details on the common application form. If you apply direct to a voluntary-aided school, the school will return your form to us.
If you do not ask for a second preference and we cannot give you your highest ranked school, the Admissions Officer will give your child a place at a school that has places left - this may not be a local school.
If your child is offered a place at your second preference and you accept, this does not affect your right to appeal against your highest preference if you were unsuccessful.
