What happens if I cannot get a place at my preferred school? |
|
If we cannot agree to your preference, we will write and tell you. We will then enter your child's name on the waiting list for a Community School, you should check if a VA/RC school that they are keeping a waiting list. This does not affect your right of appeal. You will find more information about your rights of appeal in another FAQ. If we accept a pupil at a school as the result of an appeal, we will take their name off the waiting list. If places become available because we withdraw allocated places, we will fill them from the waiting list. The waiting list will be kept open for the two weeks from the beginning of the new academic year until 12 September 2008. We will give places to pupils on the waiting list based on the admission conditions, not on how long they have been on the waiting list. For example, if a parent moves into a school's admission zone, their child would have priority over a child already on the waiting list but who lives outside the zone. This applies to community schools only. For information on voluntary-aided (church) schools, you will need to contact the individual school. |
