How do I decide which school would best suit my child?
Every school produces a prospectus giving information about the school
including the school's values, the curriculum, activities out of school
hours, class sizes and arrangements for school meals.
They also include details of policies the school has, such as those on
behaviour, discipline, avoiding bullying, and special educational needs.
School prospectuses are a valuable source of information and you can get
them direct from the school. You will find contact details
of the schools on our website.
If you visit the schools you are interested in, it will give you first-hand
experience of the facilities and teaching staff. It will also allow you to
ask any questions you may have.
You can get more information such as school and college achievement tables
(previously called performance tables), from local libraries. You should
use this information carefully as it can be misleading if you are not aware
of all the factors that can influence the results. School and college
achievement tables should only be part of your overall decision.
