Will the Animal Welfare Service look after my animal for a period of time, e.g. while I am on holiday or in hospital?

We do not provide a boarding service for animals. For information on boarding providers please see the relevant information under Animal Licensing.

If you have to go into hospital unexpectedly and have no relatives or friends to care for your animal, then Social Service's may be able to assist with the arrangement of suitable boarding facilities as part of their duties under the National Assistance Act 1948. Any reasonable expenses incurred by the council in fulfilling this duty are recoverable. Social Services Estates Office can be contacted on (01642) 527496
