What do I do if I think the blockage is in the public sewer (usually situated in the middle of the road or back street)?
Northumbrian Water are responsible for maintaining public sewers and they can be contacted on Tel: 0845 717 1100 or see the link to their website on the left.
In addition to public sewers located in the road, if your property was built before 1937 and there is more than one property connected to the sewer, this may fall under the responsibility of Northumbrian Water. You should query this with Northumbrian Water first, or we can help with advice/information.
