Do I need approval to renew existing windows?
Yes
Since 1 April 2002 all work to replace existing windows is required to comply with the regulations and therefore an application must be made to the Council, unless the work is carried out by a FENSA registered installer
If you do decide to use a FENSA registered installer, you can find a list of installers on the Glass and Glazing Federation web site (see external Links section on this page). If you choose this route you do not need to make an application to us as your FENSA installer is responsible for achieving compliance with the regulations
If you decide to use another installer or decide to do the work yourself, a Building Notice must be submitted to us and should include a description of the number and size of the windows to be installed
