How do I dismantle and dispose of asbestos Garages and Guttering?

  • Wear a suitable disposable dust respirator.
  • Dampen the asbestos and the surrounding working area first.
  • If possible try to dismantle the structure in one piece by undoing any bolts.
  • Dampen down any dust created and sweep it with a brush.
  • Do not use domestic vacuum cleaners.
  • Do not use power tools.
  • Wrap the asbestos with polythene sheets and labeled ASBESTOS.
  • Double bag any small asbestos pieces and the contaminated items such as face masks and sweeping brushes and label it ASBESTOS.
