Asbestos Advice

Is asbestos dangerous?

If the asbestos is in good condition it will not give rise to any health problems. Asbestos cement material [found in roofing material and guttering] is normally low risk as the asbestos fibres are 'bound into' the material.

Damaged asbestos material can release small fibres, which can lead to people developing one of three fatal diseases:-

  • asbestosis which is a scarring of the lung.
  • lung cancer.
  • mesothelioma which is a cancer of the lining around the lung and the stomach.
