Dog Fouling

What is the Council doing about dog fouling?

The Councils Animal Welfare Team are responsible for managing the enforcement and education of responsible dog ownership. There are a number of ways that we do this:

  • Free poop scoop bags are available from most council office receptions.
  • We make use of various marketing initiatives including high profile television, radio and outside advertising campaigns alongside frequent 'community-based' events with workshops at schools and talks at residents meetings and various associations.
  • To deter incidents of dog fouling, authorised Council Enforcement Officers visit known problem areas. Patrols are carried out seven days a week at various times including early mornings and late evenings.
