There is an untaxed vehicle on the street.

It is against the law to leave a car on a public highway if it does not have a valid tax disc.

We carry out joint exercises with DVLA and Cleveland Police to remove any vehicles that are found without a tax disc.

The owner of the vehicle will not have it returned until storage and removal costs are paid to our contractor and also backdated unpaid tax is paid to the DVLA.

A vehicle that has been removed and not claimed will be disposed of. Because the vehicle had been stored illegally anyway, the owner cannot take legal action against The Council or the DVLA.
