I work for the Council. How will scrutiny affect me or my colleagues?

As with members of the public, council employees are encouraged to have an input into the scrutiny process. You may have an interest in the topic being examined or ideas for topics suitable for future scrutiny reviews.

Scrutiny reviews may also undertake appropriate consultation exercises with relevant staff within the affected service area. Senior staff within the service area may be closely involved with the progress of a review if they are designated as 'link officers'. This role is designed so that the Committee has specialist support to inform the debate.

Ultimately, Select Committees may decide to recommend changes to an established way of working. If accepted by Cabinet, employees would be involved in the moves to implement these changes.
