Why have I and my partner both received a summons for the full outstanding balance?

Where an account is held in joint names a summons will be issued to each liable person for the full outstanding balance.

This does not mean that you each must pay the full amount shown on the summons, as only one balance is outstanding. It does mean that the Council can take further action against any person that a liability order has been granted against.
