Committal to Prison

What happens if I stop making payments?

You must contact the council immediately to explain your reason for non-payment. In certain circumstances you will be allowed to pay increased instalments to bring your payments up to date.

Continued non-payment will result in the authority taking you back to court for non- compliance of the court order.

You will need to explain to the magistrates why you have not paid.

The magistrates may choose to either impose the custodial sentence previously suspended or again to suspend the sentence for you to make payment.
