Stockton Council serves the towns of Stockton, Norton, Billingham, Thornaby, Ingleby Barwick and Yarm
In July 2009 a change in the way which vacant properties are allocated took place across the Tees Valley.
The Choice Based Lettings scheme (CBL) replaced the old points- based system with one of bidding, and rather than just choosing certain areas of preference, people on the Tees Valley Common Housing Register can now register an interest in an individual property.
Compass is the Choice Based Lettings Scheme (CBL) for the Tees Valley area and is made up of a number of councils and partner organisations.
If you wish to apply for a council house you will need to join the Tees Valley Common Housing Register.
By registering you will have the option to search for available homes, bid for your preferred properties and find out about other housing options.
Properties are advertised on a weekly basis through the partner housing office, property shops, the Compass newsletter and website.
The cycle opens every Thursday morning at 00.01hrs and closes the following Tuesday at midnight. You cannot bid on a Wednesday.
You can bid for a property that you are interested in:
Automatic bids will be placed for those assessed as particularly vulnerable.
If you need help to work your way around the Housing Register system and bidding on a property get in touch with our Housing Options team.
