School closures
In cases of disruption (such as strike action or adverse weather) we annotate our A to Z listings pages showing all schools, colleges and academies across Stockton borough showing any potential problems.
Please note:
- You need to ensure your browser is not viewing a cached version of our pages. We work to update pages regularly across the day and they are often republished many times.
Refresh your view of each page (using CTRL + F5) to ensure you're viewing the very latest details.
and:
- While we endeavour to provide a comprehensive set of information we rely on institutions informing us that they do not intend to open.
- For definitive information you are advised to contact schools directly as it is possible they have not yet informed us of closure.
- Where no update is shown next to the institution name we have not received information as to closure.
Informing us of school closure
If a school decides that it will close because of an emergency situation or other disruption due to strike action or adverse weather, the school closures e-form should be used to notify Stockton Council.
Once the form is submitted it is automatically sent to key Council services that need to know about the closure for example:
- Corporate Communications team - who will liaise with local media about school closures
- School meals
- School transport
- Education team
We can only accept notification of school closures from a school that submits the form along with the current password which has been supplied to Headteachers of Stockton Borough schools and colleges.
If you would like additional information about the school closures system please contact us at webmaster@stockton.gov.uk
