The Council published its Core Strategy Development Plan Document on 27 October 2008. There is now an eight week period when you can make representations to the Council about the Core Strategy Publication Draft. This will run from 27 October to 22 December 2008. This is the document the Council intends to submit to the Secretary of State, to be examined at an Independent Examination. You can make representations of support if you agree with the plan, or objections if you think the Core Strategy is not sound or not legally compliant.
The Core Strategy is accompanied by:
- A Sustainability Appraisal which shows how the policies in the Core Strategy meet our sustainability objectives;
- An Appropriate Assessment which shows whether or not our policies might have an adverse impact on sites of European importance for nature conservation
- An Infrastructure Strategy which demonstrates what infrastructure is required to support planned growth and development, how much it will cost, where the money will come from to provide infrastructure, and who will be responsible for its delivery; and
- A Consultation Statement that sets out who has been consulted, when they were consulted and what they said to help us prepare the Core Strategy.
What is the Core Strategy?
The Core Strategy Development Plan Document is the key plan in the Local Development Framework. It sets out in broad terms where development will take place in the Borough up to 2024. It does not go into detail and it does not allocate specific sites for different types of development.
What is the publication stage?
This is a new stage in the plan preparation process when representations of support or objection to a development plan document can be submitted to the Council. These will be considered as part of the independent examination into the 'soundness' of the plan.
