Traffic Management Schemes

Traffic Management schemes are carried out to improve road safety and limit traffic problems across the Stockton borough. Many types of schemes are implemented each year such as Local Safety, Speed Management, Traffic Calming, Traffic Signals and Pedestrian Crossings. There is funding available for each of the four Area Transport Strategies and the schemes that are programmed to be carried out during the period April 2011 to March 2012 are listed below.


Northern Area Transport Strategy Schemes:


Station Road, Billingham - Speed management, signing and lining.

Billingham Heavy Goods Vehicle Study Review.

Mill Lane, Billingham - Speed management, Signing and lining.

Malvern Road, Pentland Avenue - Traffic Calming.

Low Grange Avenue South - Traffic Calming Improvements.

Station Road, Billingham - Zebra Crossing.

A1046 Port Clarence Road - Pedestrian Crossing Study.

Greenwood Road - 30mph Gateway. (Local Transport Plan Scheme)


Eastern Area Transport Strategy Schemes:


Teesdale Area - Parking Study.

Westbury Street - Traffic Calming Review Study.

Thorntree Road, Southern end - Traffic Calming Amendments.

Havilland Road - Street lighting.

Maltby - Speed Indication Devices.


Western Area Transport Strategy Schemes:


Kirk Road - Speed Indication Device.

Durham Lane - Experimental Heavy Goods Vehicle restriction.

Turton Road, Willey Flatts - Traffic Calming.


Central Area Transport Strategy Schemes:


Tithe Barn Road, Hardwick - Phase 2, Traffic Calming. (Local Transport Plan Scheme)

Londonderry Road - Closure.

Surbiton Road - Bus turning area improvements.

Fairfield Road - Phase 1, Speed Management, Pedestrian Crossing Improvements.

Bishopton Road West - Footpath link (Castle Eden Walkway).
