Mandale Gyratory

A major highway improvement scheme which forms part of a wider set of improvement's to bus facilities across the Tees Valley.  

The improvement works include:

  • With Flow bus lanes on Mandale Road and Bridge Road across Victoria Bridge
  • A contraflow bus/cycle lane on Mandale Road between George Street and Yale Crescent.
  • Traffic signal upgrades which includes bus priority at traffic signals.
  • New/relocated bus stops including new shelters and low floor bus access platforms.
  • The closure of Darlington Street to general traffic.
  • The closure of the filter lane linking Mandale Road and George Street at the Westbury Street roundabout.
  • The introduction of off/on road cycle lanes. 
  • Public realm improvements in the area of Thornaby Town Hall. 
  • Bridge waterproofing works to Victoria Bridge.

These works along with others across the Tees Valley will help to improve journey times and bus punctuality throughout the region.

The works started on site on Monday 7th June 2010 and last for a duration of 20 weeks.
